Will Your Legal Plan for Retirement Deliver a Life Worth Living?
That’s the question elder law attorney Rajiv Nagaich takes on in Designing Your Ideal Future, his third PBS special. Now airing nationwide, this powerful program reveals the secret ingredient in the retirement planning process that is absolutely essential if you want your dream retirement to last as long as you do. Watch the show on your local PBS affiliate.
the problem
Retirement Dreams Turn into Nightmares for 70% of Americans
- Nearly all Americans want to age at home, yet 70% of American retirees take their last breath somewhere other than home, according to research by Stanford University. It's the same for people who retired with large fortunes, including bold-face names you would recognize.
- No one wants to lose assets paying for uncovered medical and long-term care costs, yet nearly everyone experiences this outcome, even wealthy people. Some lose everything.
- No one wants to be a burden on their family when they get sick, but this is what happens to the majority of retirees. These burdens create problems for the entire family, including conflicts that can tear families apart.
Financial plans and estate plans do nothing to address these issues.
THE SOLUTION
Achieve the Outcomes Retirees Want Most
Instead of hoping that your plan for retirement will deliver a life worth living (even if your health fails), now you can be sure. A LifePlan delivers the outcomes retirees care about most.
- A plan to preserve your good health for as long as possible
- A plan for housing so you don't have to move to a place of care if you get sick
- A plan for how your money should be used if your health fails
- A plan that gives your family the tools needed to bring you home if you get sick
- A plan to protect your money from the biggest financial threats
- A plan that helps you make good decisions about how you spend money
- A plan to avoid outliving your nest egg, even if you live to be 100+
- A plan that protects your estate from predators, estate taxes, and care costs
- A plan that eases burdens on loved ones if your health fails later in retirement
- A plan that keeps you in control of your life, even if you become incapacitated

Hey, I'm Rajiv!
I became an elder law attorney after seeing my father-in-law wither away in a nursing home. Since then, I’ve been on a mission to fix America’s broken retirement planning “system.” My goal is to help retirees avoid institutional care, avoid going broke paying for care, and avoid being a burden on their families. I do this by:
- Educating consumers how to plan for retirement
- Training professionals how to better serve consumers
- Connecting consumers and professionals
